Staff Cadet Resources 2018

Staff cadets are the NCOs of the Cadet Training Centres. A staff cadet can assist the officer staff with the instruction and supervision of cadets, or might be tasked in an administrative or logistical support role. Rank and pay for staff cadets depend upon the position; this is usually determined during a pre-course training and evaluation period.

Staff Cadet Application Process: Important Information

  • You can apply to be a SCdt on the Participation Application Form used by all cadets

  • When filling out the Application Form refer to the CTC SCdt Positions for the Cadet Training Centre of your preference. 

  • A staff cadet applicant must be at least 16 on 1 Jan 2018

  • If you are applying to staff at more than one CTC (Cadet Training Centre) you must fill out "Staff Cadet Verification Form" (see below to download) as well as the Participant Application Form.

  • Cadet must have a SIN card and a bank account to work and be paid as a Staff Cadet – advise that Cadet applies for SIN card and bank account when they apply for Staff posn and not wait until last minute – which could result in Cadet not being paid ‘on time’ or hired if there is a ‘last minute backfill’ at a CSTC.
  • If a Cadet has accepted an offered Staff posn, and then has to decline, it is the responsibility of the Cadet to inform the Staffing Personnel, either directly or thru their Corps/Sqn, of the change as opposed to the Cadet ‘just not showing up’ on the designated date – this is not fair to other Cadets, who are waiting for a job offer, nor to the CSTCs.

  • RCSU Staffing personnel will be using email as the primary mode of communication for all formerly ‘paper-based documentation’ ie Pre-Acknowledgment Letters, requests for Documentation, Offers of Employment. It is imperative that the Staffing Section has access to a valid email address for all Applicants.
