Spring FTX 2016

Date: Friday April 29th - Sunday May 1st

Location/ Time: Cadets will report to Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Branch 286 (11 Irwin Road) at 5:30pm on Friday. Parents are to be at 11 Irwin Road NLT 4:00pm to pick up their cadets on Sunday May 1st.

-All cadets must wear hiking boots
-Civilian clothing suitable for camping; OR
-Complete olive green combat uniform - combat boots, beret with crest and rank slip-ons. No partial uniform will be accepted.

This is a mandatory training event for all cadets


  1. Bring your health card!
    You won’t be allowed to attend this event without your health card. If you have a temporary card please ensure you have goverment ID). Photocopies will not be accepted.

  2. Bring all items listed on the kit list.
    You can find the kit list below!

  3. Arrive Wearing your Hiking Boots.

  4. We will depart and return to Branch 286, 11 Irwin Rd

  5. Be punctual
    5:30pm arrival at Legion on Friday & parents to be at the Legion NLT 4:00pm on Sunday to pick-up their cadets.

  6. Emergency Contact

Please note that all bags will be checked thoroughly prior to boarding the bus. If any non-permitted items are found they will be confiscated and the cadet will immediately return home to await further disciplinary action by the CO.

  • Provincial Health Card NOT A PHOTOCOPY (if you have a temporary version you must bring government ID)
  • Proper Hiking Boots with ankle support NO HIGH-TOP SNEAKERS (must be shown before boarding the bus
  • Day backpack
  • Pen & Paper/ small notebook
  • Rain Gear: waterproof poncho/ jacket and pants
  • Personal cleaning kit (soap, toothbrush, tooth paste, deodorant, towel, baby wipes etc.)
  • Lip Balm (Chapstick, Blistex)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Repellent
  • Waterbottle
  • A ball cap or cadet tilley hat
  • A flashlight or headlamp (headlamp preferred)
  • 2 extra sets of clothes including pants, t-shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts and wool socks (bring clothes made with synthetic fibres like nylon or polyester)
  • Undergarments
  • 2 hoodies/ sweaters
  • 1 Windbreaker jacket
  • Wool Socks (3 pair)
  • Warm Hat/ Toque & Gloves
  • Extra Dry Cloths to change into, if wet weather occurs all weekend

What is NOT permitted on this exercise:


NO lighters, knives or  anything else that could be considered a “weapon”

NO food, bottled pop or juice, it is not required and might attract wild-life

DO NOT wear jeans as it will prevent you from keeping warm
